On January 9, 2014, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. will celebrate 100 years of Brotherhood, Scholarship and Service. Chapters all over the country, as well as our national and regional leadership, are planning events, programs and celebrations. Plans are underway for the Beta Rho Sigma chapter, and you can count on nothing but the best from the Sigmas of Charlotte. The chapter is planning four official centennial events starting with the annual MLK Parade in January and ending with a black-tie celebration in October.
Here is the official list of local, regional and national centennial events:
To celebrate Phi Beta Sigma’s offical 100th anniversary, every region has moved their conferences to January. The Southeastern Region will celebrate in Greensboro, NC, home of the region’s oldest chapter (Eta Chapter at North Carolina A&T). This will be a full-blown Sigma conference, complete with workshops and meetings, but will also feature events designed to celebrate the centennial in style. The conference will culminate with a black tie gala on January 11 that will coordinate with simultaneous celebrations in every region.

This will be the first public appearance for the local chapter in 2014 and the Sigmas of Charlotte plan to make a great showing at the annual parade with 100 brothers walking in unison to signify 100 years of brotherhood, scholarship and service.
The March of Dimes’ March for Babies campaign will be the Sigma of Charlotte’s official centennial service project. We will raise at least $5,000 and have 100 walkers in this year’s event. Over the past two year’s the chapter has raised more than $14,000 for March for Babies.
Sigmas of all over the world will convene on our nation’s capital to celebrate 100 years of brotherhood, scholarship and service. The grand event will also correlate with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s 2014 Boule’. Every Sigma should be in DC this summer!
